pieces of me
I was born in Cape Town, South Africa and moved to Ireland in 1991.
My initial interest in art probably stemmed from a course I did which involved stained glass, etching and woodwork, just after I got here. After a two year stint in Grennan Mill Craft School in Thomastown, I started my own business doing craft based workshops with community groups, adults and children. I concentrated on batik and fabric printing initially, but as my skills and interest for other processes and ideas grew, I started to facilitate all sorts of other workshops as the demand for them became apparent.
I recently complete my BA (hons) degree in Fine Art (Sculpture) as a mature student. I am now interested in mixing media, combining computer image manipulation and photography with found objects and paint and dyes. I am especially interested in themes of identity as well as community art. I love art that encourages audience participation and that makes you think differently about what you are seeing. As a medium, I find fabric and paper especially appealing and find I am using them in most of my current projects.
I am on The Artist in the Community panel with the County Councils 'Art in the Community' scheme and anyone wishing to contact me regarding a collaborative project is welcome to do so. I have facilitated many community projects over the years all over County Wexford and have even facilitated a few in South Africa on my holiday breaks.
